Program Description:

Choosing a study abroad program is an exciting yet complex process. There are some initial items you'll want to consider before moving forward with an ISA program application.

Meet with your study abroad advisor on campus to talk about course approval, initial paperwork needed for your university and financial aid options.
Research courses you'd like to take abroad and bring those descriptions to your advisor for review and preapproval.
Meet with your Financial Aid Advisor if you are considering using your financial aid for your program abroad.
Review the steps below and prepare to submit your ISA application. Be sure to check the ISA application deadline and the final forms and payment deadline for the program you are interested in.
Contact ISA or your Study Abroad Advisor in the CGE if you have any questions!

STEP 1 - MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Familiarize yourself with the eligibility requirements found under the Overview section of each program on the ISA website and check if there are any additional documents required to complete the ISA application.

GPA - Requirements for the programs range from 2.50 to 3.30. Please refer to individual programs' eligibility section for specific GPA requirements.
Foreign Language Proficiency - Some programs require a certain level of foreign language proficiency. ISA offers programs that accommodate a broad range of language levels from programs that require zero language background (courses in English) to programs for students who are fluent in a second language. Please refer to individual programs’ eligibility section for specific language requirements.
Academic Classification - Some programs may have specific academic standing requirement (i.e. sophomore or junior standing). In addition, some host universities will not consider community college and AP/IB credits when calculating your academic standing.
Program Dates - Deviation from ISA program dates is not permissible during any ISA Summer or short-term program. Deviation from ISA program dates for Semester/Academic Year programs are handled on a case-by-case basis and must be approved by your ISA Program Manager prior to acceptance.
$200 deposit - A valid credit or debit card is required to pay the $200 application deposit. If you are applying to multiple programs, a $200 application deposit is required for each program. Please have your card ready before you begin the application. Once submitted online, the $200 application deposit is non-refundable.

STEP 2 – REVIEW ISA DUE DATES & POLICIES

ISA accepts applicants on a rolling basis. Check the application due date for the program of your choice, and submit your application materials as soon as possible. Due to high enrollment, ISA recommends submitting applications at least one to two months before the application due date.

ISA due dates do not necessarily coincide with student visa deadlines. Some programs may or may not require a student visa. Applicants are responsible for researching these requirements which are independent of ISA's application requirements.

If you apply after the application deadline you may be subject to a late fee of $150.

See our Prices and Dates page to find out when your final forms and payment are due.

Prior to your official acceptance, please refrain from booking flights for your program. ISA reserves the right to adjust program dates to accommodate host university calendar changes, and is not responsible for airline fare or ticket change fees incurred by program participants. Prices and dates are subject to change without notice.

Review the ISA Cancellation Policy:

This policy applies to all cancellations, regardless of the reason. Your request to withdraw and receive a refund must be made in writing to ISA. The deposit is non-refundable once your application has been submitted. However, if your application is denied due to eligibility requirements, your deposit will be fully refunded. Alternative payment arrangements (financial aid, payment plans, etc.) do not exempt you from this policy.

If you withdraw from the program on or before the original payment due date, you are liable for the $200 application deposit.
If you withdraw 1-9 days after the original payment due date, you are liable for $750 plus costs incurred by ISA on your behalf.
If you withdraw 10-20 days after the original payment due date, you are liable for $1,250 plus costs incurred by ISA on your behalf. Summer program participants are liable for $1000 plus costs incurred by ISA on your behalf.
If you withdraw 21 or more days after the original payment due date but prior to the final deadline for withdrawal, you are liable for $1,750 plus costs incurred by ISA on your behalf. Summer program participants are liable for $1500 plus costs incurred by ISA on your behalf.
The final deadline to withdraw from any ISA program is 14 days prior to the start date of the program. If you withdraw after this deadline, regardless of the reason for withdrawal, you are not eligible for any refund from ISA.

Signing and returning all documents in your student portal is your responsibility. If you fail to return the documents after repeated notification (email or call), you will be deemed withdrawn and will not be eligible for any refund.

Housing deposits and housing confirmation fees are non-refundable after the original payment due date.

If you change or defer to another ISA program after the payment due date but prior to the final deadline to withdraw, ISA will assess a $500 change fee plus costs incurred. Program changes are not permitted 1-14 days prior to the start of the program.
