International Education Week Photo Contest Description
As part of International Education Week (IEW) the Center for Global Engagement (CGE) is hosting a photo contest that celebrates the impact of international education! This contest is open to ALL Nighthawks—current UNG students who have gone abroad, international students currently studying on UNG’s campus, and current UNG faculty and staff who have participated in an education abroad experience. Nighthawks can apply November 1st - 14th; the winner will be announced on November 19th, the last day of IEW. Each applicant may submit one photo per qualifying category, for a total of two photo entries.
Contest Categories
#TheWorldIsMyClassroom
- Open to ALL Nighthawks!
- A photo that reflects the traditions, customs, or culture of a country other than where the applicant was born.
#NighthawksAbroad
- A photo that includes one or more current UNG students on an education abroad program.
#NighthawksInternational
- A photo that includes one or more current international students studying at UNG experiencing American culture.
#NighthawksRewind
- A photo that includes one or more current UNG staff or faculty members participating in an education abroad experience.
OFFICIAL RULES
Who Can Enter
The International Education Week (IEW) Photo Contest is open to ALL Nighthawks, including:
- Current UNG students
- International students currently studying at UNG
- UNG faculty and staff
What to Submit
Applicants can submit one photo per qualifying category - up to two photos total - illustrating an experience in international education. Photos must be accompanied by a descriptive caption and information.
Examples of an international education experiences include:
- Study abroad
- International internship
- Global military programs
- Teaching exchange
- Director of a faculty-led program
Submissions should not include vacation photos. While traveling for vacation can be a meaningful and enriching experience, for this contest CGE is looking to showcase the power and impact of international education!
Photo Requirements
- Entries must have been taken by a current UNG student on an education abroad program, an international student currently studying on UNG’s campus, or a current member of UNG faculty or staff.
- Each applicant can submit up to two entries: one for the #TheWorldIsMyClassroom category, and another for the category corresponding to their peer group.
- The photo must not be manipulated in any way and must be original work.
- The photo cannot violate privacy, publicity, or intellectual property rights.
- The photo cannot contain any inappropriate behavior, unlawful activity, nudity, or profanity.
HOW TO ENTER
- Select the Apply Now button at the top left of the screen.
- Complete the questionnaire with photo submissions and captions.
- Submit your application by November 14th at 11:59pm!
Voting and Prizes
- A panel of judges from CGE will select the winning photo from each category.
- Winners will be announced on November 19th at the end of International Education Week.
- Winners of #TheWorldIsMyClassroom and #NighthawksRewind will receive gift baskets filled with UNG swag!
- Winners of #NighthawksAbroad and #NighthawksInternational will receive $25 in campus cash.
